Measured Tempo Suffers Setback

The chances of Frankie Dettori riding an historic Classic double at Epsom this weekend have suffered a setback after it was revealed that Measured Tempo has an abscess on her foot.

The filly emerged as a live contender for the Vodafone Oaks after victory in the Swettenham Stud Fillies´ Trial at Newbury.

However, despite Dettori holding all the aces in the Derby with the ride on hot favourite Authorized, his chance in the Oaks appears to have taken a knock.

Godolphin´s racing manager Simon Crisford told www.godolphin.com: 'She has popped an abscess in her foot and we will be monitoring it over the next few days. Hopefully she will be OK to take her chance on Friday.'

Measured Tempo is a general 7-1 chance for Friday´s Classic.

Ireland should be represented though after Aidan O´Brien revealed he is likely to have at least two runners in the race.

'All My Loving is likely to run as we think she will handle plenty of ease in the ground well,' said O´Brien.

'Nell Gwyn is also a likely runner, but Peeping Fawn, who was third in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday and handles cut in the ground, might not as the Oaks looks like coming a bit soon for her.

'Cherry Hinton is a very good mover who might not be ideally suited by soft ground. She is only a possible runner at this stage,' he told the Racing Post.
