Million Entries Showing Plenty Of Promise

It is still early days but there is plenty of promise emerging from the two year olds entered for the Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million races at the Curragh on September 19th.

Amongst the winning entries are the David Wachman trained He's A Decoy, successful recently in a Listed race at Cork, while Barry Hills' yard has two strong prospects in the filly Silk Blossom who won her maiden at Newmarket's Craven meeting before finishing a close second in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, and Captain Marvelous who was an impressive winner at Chester in May.

Others with a chance of scooping the ?1million pot include Michael Halford's Naas winner Emerald Hill, and the aptly named winning filly Million Spirits, trained by Kevin Prendergast. Finsceal Beo represents a strong chance for her connections after landing her maiden at Leopardstown earlier in the season while trainer Richard Hannon's Major Cadeaux, a winner first time out and subsequently runner up in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, is another leading contender.

Ian Woosnam, captain of the European team for the Ryder Cup, is involved in the Ryder Cup Syndicate which has five entries for the race, including the appropriately named Tee Off, trained by Barry Hills, and the Jessica Harrington-trained Pelican Waters who finished fourth in a Listed race at The Curragh on Friday night.

With the big event about two months away the progress of all the entries will be monitored closely with many of them yet to make their debuts.
