Mine Primed For Newmarket Assignment

James Bethell was excited to see Soldier's Tale win the Golden Jubilee Stakes before Mine's Cheveley Park Stud Criterion Stakes assignment at Newmarket on Saturday.

Jeremy Noseda's six-year-old may have landed the Royal Ascot Group One by a head but finished two lengths adrift of Bethell's charge at Haydock on his penultimate start.

Having returned from the Listed John of Gaunt Stakes unscathed, Mine is reported to be in top trim returning to a track which has provided the laudable entire with three Bunbury Cup triumphs.

'He's in very good form and Richard Quinn rides,' said Bethell.

'It's soft ground at the moment but that wouldn't bother him because he'd go on anything.

'You would hope there would be a good gallop because there are one or two frontrunners down to run and that can only help him.

'He's entitled to go for a race like this because he did nothing wrong the other day at Haydock and even beat a Group One winner (Soldier's Tale).'
