La Mottie could finish only sixth behind Magnificent Song in the Grade One Garden City Breeders' Cup at Belmont.

The filly, who would have been completing a memorable double for trainer Jeremy Noseda after Sixties Icon's St Leger success, failed to land a blow as Magnificent Song ran out a two-length winner.

Ex-French runner Cacique took the main prize on the card, the Man o'War Stakes, while Pine Island was the winner of the Gazelle Stakes.
