Murtagh Picks Up 5 days of supensions The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Westphalia, ridden by Johnny Murtagh, placed second, Sugar Free, ridden by Wayne Lordan, placed third, Daggers Bond, ridden by Pat Smullen, unplaced, David Moran, unplaced and Moving Ice, ridden by Fran Berry, unplaced. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the video of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Johnny Murtagh had ridden carelessly and they therefore suspended him for 3 racedays (8th, 9th and 11th June 2008). Murtagh also picked up a further 2-day suspension having been deemed to have ridden carelessly in the final race of the day.
