Naas waiting game

Despite the Naas track being raceable yesterday, the course manager admitted: 'It`s a waiting game as regards Sunday.'

The Met Office have told Margaret McGuinness there is a chance of snow falling early this morning but it is too early yet for an inspection to be called.

'You can`t call an inspection on a forecast and things are fine at the moment. We might get snow but it is supposed to get milder on Sunday so it`s a waiting game,' she said yesterday.

'The winds have been strong today but the hurdles and the wings are still up and the wind is supposed to drop soon.'

The last meeting scheduled for Naas two weeks ago was called off due to waterlogging.

No problems are expected at Fairyhouse today where there is a €20,000 jackpot carryover.

'We`ve had only 6mms of rain since Wednesday. The winds are very high at the moment but the wings and the hurdles are in place, and the hurdles are not blowing back,' said manager Dick Shiel.
