Ned Kelly set for Down Royal

Star hurdler Ned Kelly is expected to run at the Down Royal Festival of Racing on Friday.

Trained by Edward O`Grady, Ned Kelly has been entered for the IR#18,000 Anglo Irish Bank hurdle over two miles.

O`Grady said: 'The possibility is that he will run. I`m hoping to get Norman Williamson to ride.'

Ned Kelly won six hurdle races last season and is expected to be a leading candidate in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham next March.

Also entered in the Down Royal race is the Willie Mullins-trained Joe Cullen who won the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in 2000 when Ned Kelly was second.
