NEW FAVOURITE TRYPHAENA ON COURSE FOR CESAREWITCH

Tryphaena is the sponsor`s new favourite for the Tote Cesarewitch at Newmarket a week on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained mare has been backed down to 6-1 market leader from 25-1 following a sustained period of support.

The five-year-old finished unplaced in the Galway Hurdle in August on her last outing having previously finished fourth in the Ulster Harp Derby on the Flat at Down Royal.

Her trainer Willie Mullins said today: 'At the moment she`s a definite runner and I think she`s in good form.

'It was the plan that this would be her next race after the Galway Hurdle.

'She`s easy enough to train and it`s always been the plan to go for this race.'

The mare is set to carry 7st 9lb in the long handicap for the 18-furlong contest and Mullins will wait to see if the weights rise before deciding on riding plans.

'I haven`t got any definite plans for a jockey - it all depends on what weight she`s got,' Mullins said.

'The ground won`t worry us, although Ithink she`s better on soft, and I think the trip will particularly suit her - a mile and a half was just too short for her at Down Royal.

'She won over two miles in the Leopardstown November Handicap and I think that`s more her trip.'

Mullins also had news of stable star Florida Pearl who is set to attempt to repeat victory in the Ulster Champion Chase at Down Royal on November 11th.

'Florida Pearl is in good form,' the trainer added.

'He goes to the North in November for the big race up there.'
