NO AINTREE DOUBLE FOR MONTROE Richard Rowe`s hopes that Montroe could be declared for tomorrow`s John Hughes Trophy at Aintree and still be a reserve for Saturday`s Martell Grand National have been thwarted by the rules. His grey would have been third reserve for the National had that option been chosen outright - but that would have made him ineligible for the John Hughes. 'The rules say that he cannot be declared for the John Hughes and be a reserve for the Grand National,' the trainer said. 'I wanted him to stay on the reserve list in case he refused to line up for the start of the John Hughes but I was told that this was not allowed. 'I am very disappointed but at least we can have a crack at the John Hughes. 'The trouble is that he has run moderately in his last two races and so has come down the handicap too far.' Heavy rain at Aintree is reckoned to have improved Montroe`s chances. Rowe added: 'That might be quite a help for him over the John Hughes trip and I shall put a pair ofblinkers on him just to sharpen him up. He is in very good form.'
