Northern Racegoers Public Forum

Members of the public will have an opportunity to discuss their views and experiences at Dundalk, Down Royal and Downpatrick Racecourses at a public forum on Tuesday 2nd December at the Ballymascanlon Hotel, Dundalk, Co. Louth at 8pm.

Siobhan Tolerton, Northern Ireland representative on the RCF said: "Dundalk, Down Royal and Downpatrick racecourses are popular racecourses and we hope for a good attendance from the public at this event and welcome all opinions raised. The aim of the forum is to improve the racegoing experience for both new and regular racegoers alike. Among the issues usually raised at the forums are items such as racecourse facility standards, admission prices and family access. We are working to make a difference for racegoers at both a regional and national level."

This is one of a series of country-wide public meetings being held by Horse Racing Ireland and the Racegoers Consultative Forum. Earlier forums were held in Adare (South-West region), The Curragh (Kildare region), Galway (Western), Clonmel (South-East region), Navan (Meath/Westmeath Region) and Leopardstown (Greater Dublin).

Commenting on the meetings to date, Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland said; "Horse Racing Ireland values the contributions from racegoers across the country and the public forums are an opportunity to point out areas which need to be improved. With 3 major racecourses in this region we are delighted to bring the forum to Dundalk. We have received both complaints and ideas in equal measure at previous regional forums, and, working with the racecourses, our job is to remove the reasons for the former and to implement the latter. We hope to see a good turn out for the Northern Region forum and to have a stimulating exchange of views."

The MC for the evening will be David Duggan, racing broadcaster on At the Races.
