Noseda In No Rush With Camillo

Connections of Sander Camillo are to wait a couple of weeks before deciding on the next step for the filly.

Jeremy Noseda´s charge, owned by Sir Robert Ogden, was a top-notch juvenile but has disappointed so far this season.

Runner-up in the Nell Gwyn Stakes when sent off at odds-on, she was only eighth in the French 1000 Guineas on Sunday.

'She seems fine. We´ve brought her home and are going to go over her with a fine toothcomb,' said Noseda.

'It´s a little bit frustrating at this stage, having had a third in the English Guineas (Simply Perfect) and a third in the French Guineas (Rahiyah) when we have a filly we feel is the best in the yard and she has performed below what we expected on both her starts this year.

'There are reasons for Sunday, but we have to sit now and start back at the beginning and work things out where we go from there. I don´t think we´ll make a decision for a couple of weeks.

'Her seasons have been very tough on her and that´s clearly had an effect. I hope we have managed to sort that out now and make it a little easier for her. That took us by surprise when that happened.

'Fast ground is absolutely essential. It couldn´t be fast enough for her.

'The other thing on my mind is I am just beginning to wonder whether I could have been fooled and she might just be a sprinter. I´m not sure about that.

'I got home on Sunday night and looked at her races from last year and she had the Cherry Hinton and the Albany both won at the two-furlong marker.

'I wonder whether her natural speed is her game. We will have to wait and see, I´m not really sure. That might be a knee-jerk reaction on the end of a disappointing day on Sunday,' he told At The Races.
