Octave Could Go Even Higher

Octave may bid to complete a clean sweep of New York's prestigious Triple Tiara following her win in the Coaching Club American Oaks at Belmont.

Trainer Todd Pletcher will consider the final leg of the Grade One series for three-year-old fillies, the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on August 18, after she doubled up her Mother Goose Stakes victory at the New York track.

'This filly's been a gem of consistency,' said Pletcher.

'Back to back Grade One wins three weeks apart is huge. To win the Mother Goose and come back three weeks later in the Coaching Club at a mile and a quarter is a real nice accomplishment.

'We'll keep our options open with her. I'm not sure where she'll go next,' he told www.thoroughbredtimes.com.

Pletcher had earmarked Rags To Riches for the American Oaks following her historic win over the colts in the Belmont Stakes but she was ruled out with a high temperature. She had earlier beaten Octave in the Kentucky Oaks.

Octave showed her worth, however, holding the late challenge of Lear's Princess by half-a-length with Godolphin's runner Folk third.

The latter's performance pleased her connections.

'Folk ran well. It was her first race since March and she will improve for it,' trainer Saeed bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.
