Osborne`s Mole makes merry

Jamie Osborne sent out his second winner on the course when Trusted Mole, ridden by Michael Fenton, gained a comfortable success in the netbetsports.com Selling Stakes at Beverley today.

Fenton sent Trusted Mole past the pace-making Dispol Foxtrot a furlong and a half out and he stretched clear to score by two and a half lengths from Academic Record who finished well.

The Upper Lambourn trainer, who has a one-third share in the gelding, explained: 'I ran him at Warwick on Monday, we thought he would run well but he got a bit uncompetitive so we decided to put the shades (blinkers) on and drop him in class.'

However there was a sting in the tail for Osborne as he had to go to 7,200 guineas to retain the winner at the ensuing auction, and he added with a wry smile: 'That has taken the shine off it a bit.'
