Jamie Spencer has been booked to ride Indigo Dream in today’s BetMGM Fillies' And Mares' Championships Handicap at Newcastle, with trainer Ross O’Sullivan hoping for a placing in the £150,000 contest.

Dropped 1lb following a course third-placing behind today’s rival Stateira in January, Indigo Dream had previously won a Dundalk maiden in December and today bids to overcome a wide draw.

O’Sullivan reports "we have an eye-catching jockey booking but it is 11 runners and she is drawn 11, so it will be kept simple. There's great prize money for the first three or four so you are hunting for prize money, and if you are in the first three, we would be delighted.

"She was third (in Newcastle) and was beaten by Stateira who is in the same race. That filly is very good and will be favourite, but was put up 10lb for winning. Oisin Murphy did mention to me after the race that he thought she (Stateira) was a very, very good filly.

"It was always the plan to run today once we qualified and she likes the surface and seven furlongs is an ideal trip. It is a small field so you never know.”
