Pike takes Cheltenham bait

Paris Pike is set to return to action in the Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday, it was revealed today.

The Ferdy Murphy-trained 10-year-old was pulled up in the Ericsson Chase at Leopardstown last month after damaging some muscles in his back.

However, Murphy said: 'Paris Pike is in right order and runs on Saturday at Cheltenham in the Pillar Property Chase and will then, all going well, go for the Aon Chase at Newbury (February 9th).

'Paris Pike will improve for the run at Cheltenham and has got over the problem he had at Leopardstown. Norman Williamson rides him in the Pillar.'

Murphy added that stable jockey Adrian Maguire will go to Ayr on Saturday to partner the exciting prospect Truckers Tavern in the Carrick Hills Novices` Chase.
