Pride Is Hong Kong Possible

Pride could bid to end her racing career on a high at the Hong Kong International meeting in December.

The Alain de Royer-Dupre-trained six-year-old powered to a three-length victory in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket, supplementing her second place in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Owner Sven Hanson is now eyeing a crack at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on December 10 before his star mare is retired to stud.

'It was great ? almost too easy! She is very good when there is some give in the ground,' he said.

'I would think she will now go to either Hong Kong or Japan but I think the trainer would prefer Hong Kong.

'The ground there is normally a bit better although it is still fast, but she has run well there before.'

Pride was only beaten a neck by Vengeance Of Rain in the Group One event last year when partnered by Christophe Soumillon.

Christophe Lemaire has been aboard for each of Pride's six starts this term though, and Hanson believes having a regular partner has seen the Peintre Celebre mare improve further.

'I think the fact she has had the same jockey all season has helped her. She has had a number of different riders in the past which I don't think has been to her advantage,' he added.
