Promising claims Pretty Polly English raider Promising Lead proved too good for her rivals in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday. Sir Michael Stoute´s filly shrugged off the challenge of Mad About You in the final furlong for a convincing length-and-a-quarter success. Ryan Moore tracked the pacesetter Ice Queen on the 2/1f before taking up the running under two furlongs out. She was soon strongly pressed by Mad About You, but always had that rivals measure and pulled away close home to settle matters. The first two pulled well clear of the other raider Anna Pavlova, who was four-and-a-half lengths back in third. "She´s a real big scopey progressive filly and is improving. She is really coming to herself and is a decent filly," said Stoute afterwards. "She could have done with a lead for longer and is learning her trade. We´ll probably go for the Nassau next." Stoute also had news of Irish Derby hope Tartan Bearer: "He seems in good shape and we are hoping. I´m not bothered about the ground, that should be fine." Finsceal Beo proved a major disappointment. Jim Bolger´s filly came under pressure over two furlongs out and was soon beaten. Kevin Manning stood up on her over a furlong out and she trailed in last of the nine runners. She was found to clinically abnormal post race.
