Pulse to try three miles again in Rehearsal Finger Onthe Pulse steps back up to three miles in the WBX.COM Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle on Saturday. Tom Taaffe's seven-year-old will attempt the trip for only the second time after disappointing when last of five behind Air Force One in the Champion Novice Chase at the Punchestown Festival in April. However, Taaffe insists the cloud that hung over his stable at the time was a probable reason for his lacklustre effort that day. He said: "My horses weren't well at that time and I publicly stated that. I didn't run anymore for two or three months after then. "But he's in great form now and he goes for the Rehearsal at Newcastle." Finger Onthe Pulse won the Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, form that has been boosted since by runner-up Barbers Shop and third Possol. And Taaffe is bringing the Accordion gelding over to England partly for the better ground, and partly to see where he stands in the pecking order. He continued: "We want to see how he gets on, he wouldn't get the three miles here but he's going to get ground more suitable for him in the UK than in Ireland at the moment. "I think it's a nice race and we'll see how he gets along and where he slots in."
