Punjabi set for Flat campaign Punjabi is set for a brief campaign on the Flat as connections bid to exploit a favourable handicap mark. The five-year-old has shown marked improvement since being sent over hurdles, finishing third to Katchit in the Champion Hurdle before winning at Punchestown last week. However, the gelding has not raced on the Flat since 2006, when he won from a mark of 69 for trainer Geraldine Rees, leaving current handler Nicky Henderson with options. The master of Seven Barrows will be hoping to pick up some nice prizes on the level before the horse is given a break ahead of another hurdles campaign. "It?s certainly something we´re thinking about because he didn?t have a busy time over hurdles," he told the Racing Post. "We´ll see how he comes out of Punchestown. "I think we´ll be looking for a handicap over a mile-and-a-half, certainly not two miles. I´m also mindful of his jumping campaign next season, so he´ll have a good break at some stage." Henderson is a dab hand at placing his top hurdlers on the Flat, landing the 2003 Cesarewitch with Landing Light and the Goodwood Stakes in 2005 with Afrad. with Afrad.
