Quality Field For Million

A total of 38 horses, including seventeen from Britain, are still eligible to contest The Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million at the Curragh next Tuesday following the final forfeit stage yesterday. 32 entries remain in The Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Fillies 500.

Drumfire, He's A Decoy, Codeword and Deadshot Keen head up a promising line up of colts for the Million, while exciting fillies featured include Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Miss Beatrix, Lowther Stakes (Gr.2) winner Silk Blossom, and Dermot Weld's recent Leopardstown maiden winner Fly Free. These fillies are among 11 holding entries for both races.

Four Sins, an impressive winner of her maiden for John Oxx at the Curragh last month, is the only filly at this stage to hold an entry solely in the Million. Final declared runners for Tuesday will be made by 10am on Monday 18th September.

Goffs today announced details of a vendor's prize of ?10,000 to the winning vendor of the Million race, with ?5,000 for the vendor of the Fillies' 500 winner. The prizes will be presented at a reception held on the eve of the Goffs Million Sale.

The Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million is the feature race on Ryder Cup Race Day at the Curragh, and is exclusively for graduates of last year's Goffs Million Sale.Together with the fillies race there is a total prize fund of ?2.4 million on offer. 14 of the Million entries were bought for ?50,000 or less. The average cost of yearlings for the race was ?100,842 with a median of ?80,000. 22 (58%) of the 38 entries are winners, including 3 stakes winners. Yearling prices for entrants in the fillies' race start from ?12,000 ? with 12 in total costing less than ?50,000.
