RACING GOES PLOUGHING WITH HECTOR

Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) have announced that they are going Ploughing at this year's National Ploughing Championships in Annaharvey, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from Tuesday 25th ? Thursday 27th September, 2007.

Hector O'hEochagain and Brendan McArdle will host the ?Go Racing' marquee which is situated at Row L, Stand 303.

There will be on-going interviews, racing commentator competitions and demonstrations in the ?Go Racing' marquee over the three days, along with the three formal workshop events ?Horse Racing ? Get the inside track' each day at: 11am, 2pm & 4pm. There will also be another chance to see the HRI ? commissioned DVD ?Racing Through the Ages ? Celtic Warrior to Celtic Tiger'.

Hector will host the marquee on Tuesday & Wednesday and then Brendan McArdle, a familiar face and voice on the Irish racing scene, will take over on Thursday. They will be conducting interviews with top trainers including Mouse Morris, Frances Crowley, Jimmy Mangan and Eddie Harty as well as leading jockeys Ruby Walsh, Davy Russell, Pat Smullen and Garret Cotter plus many more.

Tamarisk Doyle, PR Manager for HRI said: 'With over 40,000 going to the Ploughing every day it is a great opportunity for us to develop the public's interest in our fantastic sport and to educate the public about racing. The ?Go Racing' marquee is set out to be as interactive and hands-on (fun) as possible so that we can really make an impact. RACE will be giving tuition on the simulator, we will have live racing showing, arcade-style racing games for people to play, racehorse ownership advice and racing commentator competitions. Tote Ireland will be offering a prize each day of a ?200 betting account and there's also a VIP day at the Fairyhouse Winter Festival to be won'.

Patrons will be able to get info on all 27 Irish racecourses and many of the tracks hosting major National Hunt races in the winter season will be on hand to provide advice and incentives to racegoers.

Take up the 'Simulator Challenge' as the racing academy (RACE) will be on hand with their race simulator giving race riding demonstrations to budding jockeys.
