RACING TO RESTART ON EASTER MONDAY

Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh, today gave the go-ahead for racing to resume on a limited basis from Easter Monday (April 16th).

A Flat fixture will take place at Leopardstown on April 16th with the first jumps card at Ballinrobe on April 19th.

Point-to-points, however, will still be banned until further notice.

The beginning is contingent on there being no more cases of foot-and-mouth disease on the island of Ireland, said Mr Walsh.

It is welcome news for the Punchestown festival which is due to begin on April 24th.
