Record Smashed At Goffs Land Rover Sale A record top price of €150,000 crowned a strong day´s trade at Goffs Land Rover Sale. Eddie O´Leary signed for the top lot (Lot 195) who was offered by Mark Dwyer´s Oaks Farm. The three year old gelding is by Sleeping Car ? the sire of Foxhunters Chase winner Sleeping Night and two winners of the Grand Steeple Chase de Paris (Grade 1) in Double Car and Sleeping Jack. Bloodstock agent Aiden Murphy was the leading purchaser at the sale and among his five acquisitions was Lot 187, a son of Kings Theatre closely related to Afsoun who finished third in this year´s Cheltenham Champion Hurdle. Consigned by Abbey Stables on behalf of Martin Cullinane, the three year old realised €110,000. The first lot to reach six figures was Kilpatrick House´s Alderbrook half brother to Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner Total Enjoyment (Lot 99) who was purchased by Tom Cooper for €100,000. Commenting on the sale Goffs Chairman Eimear Mulhern said 'There was a very healthy trade today with a tremendous number and range of buyers present. Particularly pleasing was the increased presence of UK trainers, many of whom were here for the first time. The slight decrease in numbers catalogued and clearance rate was reflected in the aggregate figure; however the 3% increase in average is especially satisfying coming on top of record increases over the last two years.' 'There are some lovely horses still to come over the next three days of our June NH Sale and we are very much looking forward to the rest of the week'. The aggregate for the Land Rover Sale was €5.7m, average price was €33,200 while the median was €25,000. Goffs June National Hunt Sale continues until Friday 15th, with selling commencing at 10am each day.
