REID LANDS KATY IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE

John Reid is set to step in for the ride on leading Tote Cambridgeshire fancy Katy Nowaitee.

Reid will replace George Duffield on the filly after the popular veteran picked up a five-day suspension for irresponsible riding at Pontefract last week.

Katy Nowaitee has not raced since winning the Worthington Spring Mile at Doncaster in March in impressive fashion but connections report her in fine form ahead of Saturday`s #120,000 contest at Newmarket.

John Newman, a partnership manager at the stable of trainer Peter Harris, said: 'She seems in real good form at the moment, her last piece went really well and we`re very hopeful.

'She`s had a number of niggling injuries, nothing too serious.

'Just as we`ve been preparing her for all the big races at Ascot and Goodwood she`s just not really come to hand or had minor setbacks _ it`s been very frustrating.

'When she`s right she`s shown that she`s very, very good.'

The four-year-old tackles nine furlongs for the first timehere but Newman expects her to cope with the step up in trip.

'We`d like to think that she`s probably in the best form she has been in,' he said.

'She`s never raced over nine furlongs but I don`t think she would have any problem getting it. The way she won the Doncaster race an extra furlong would not have been a problem.

'She`s a nice-actioned filly, she`s won on dead ground and better ground. We wouldn`t want it coming up a bog.

'We`ve booked John Reid to ride today. She`s a real straightforward filly and I`m sure John will get on well with her.'

Katy Nowaitee, a 12-1 chance with the sponsors was among 52 horses confirmed for the first leg of the 'autumn double' today, with the most notable absentee being Forbearing, who had been Ladbrokes` 12-1 third-favourite for the race.

Favourite for the contest is the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Nooshman, an unlucky-in-running ninth behind Komistar in the Courage Best Handicap at Newbury last time.

John Gosden is responsiblefor second-favourite Bound For Pleasure who needs one horse above him in the weights to come out to get within the safety limit of 35 runners.

The Manton trainer also has Grampas in the race but Supply And Demand, who had been a 20-1 chance for the first leg of the 'autumn double', has been withdrawn.

Michael Hills has been booked for Air Defence, second to Bound For Pleasure at Doncaster last time and one of three horses Barry Hills has left in the race along with Zyz and Full Flow.

James Fanshawe has four horses in the race but the Newmarket trainer`s plans remain fluid.

His quartet include Fantazia, Listed race winner First Fantasy, Blue Sugar and Lady Angharad, winner of the Tote Exacta Stakes at Sandown on her penultimate start.

The latter, who could only finish ninth behind Kind Regards at Newcastle last time, is Fanshawe`s most likely runner.

Fanshawe said: 'Nothing`s definite except Lady Angaharad is my most likely runner with David Harrison up.

'She`s seems fine it was very soft ground at Newcastle.

'I will wait until closer to the date until we make our final plans because soft ground is forecast. None of my mine really want it soft.'

Unfortuntately for Fanshawe, the ground at Newmarket is now officially described as soft after the weekend`s rain.
