Richards Relishing Voy Por Rematch

Nicky Richards is looking forward to taking on Voy Por Ustedes again with Monet's Garden in the paddypower.com Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 8.

The last time the two met they fought out the finish of the Arkle Trophy in 2006, with Alan King's subsequent Champion Chase winner coming out on top.

Monet's Garden has since gone on to prove himself one of the best around over trips in excess of the minimum distance, but Richards is keen to have another crack at the Queen Mother winner.

Richards said: 'The Tingle Creek is the plan at the moment and Monet's Garden is a very high-class horse who has run very well at two miles before. We will have another go as he has a high cruising speed.

'We hope that Sandown will suit him and the way in which he jumps a fence, we think that the track will bring the best out in him. He is very well and we are looking forward to it.

'He is best on good ground, although he has won on heavy.

'The two of them had a great race the last time they met, and we are hoping that they have a great race again.

'Voy Por Ustedes is the champion two-mile chaser and I have the utmost respect for him, but I think that my lad is King at two and a half miles and it will be a very interesting race.'

Last season Monet's Garden disappointed in the King George VI Chase, but another tilt at that prestigious prize could also be on the cards.

'He might go for the King George again, but we may just wait for the Ascot Chase, which he won last year,' continued the master of Greystoke.

'We'll get Sandown out of the way and take it a race at a time.

'As far as Cheltenham in March goes, I suppose the Ryanair Chase might be the race again or he may run in the two-mile Queen Mother Champion Chase.'
