Richards: Turpin Will Bounce Back

Nicky Richards feels Turpin Green's exertions in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup may be to blame for his poor run at Aintree on Thursday.

The Trevor Hemmings-owned gelding produced an exceptional performance when blinkered for the first time to take third at Cheltenham but was a distant last of five behind Exotic Dancer in the Betfair Bowl.

'Maybe the blinkers on him in the Gold Cup took a little more out of him than we thought ? you can never quite tell at home,' said Richards.

'He was just very lacklustre. But we'll be back and we should hopefully have a bit of fun in those nice staying chases next season.'
