Royal County Star Heads The Kerry National Betting

A maximum of eighteen runners and three reserves have been declared for the highlight of the seven day Listowel festival, the Guinness Kerry National.

The line-up for the ?160,000 contest is headed by Dermot Weld's dual William Hill Galway Plate winner Ansar, who will have to carry the top weight of 11st 10 in Wednesday's feature. However the 4-1 favourite for the race with William Hill is Tony Martin's hat trick seeking Royal County Star.

Other notable entries include last years winner Bothar Na, and Noel Meade's Galway Plate runner-up Ballyagran.
