RUBY RIDES 1,000TH WINNER AT SLIGO Ruby Walsh had a day to remember at Sligo on Sunday when partnering his 1,000th winner. He went close in the opener aboard his father´s Cantrell. The pair were backed into joint favourite, but could only manage third place. His next mount, The Corby Glenn, also started favourite, but was pulled up in the very testing ground. The winner finally came in the fifth race when Walsh got up in a driving finish aboard Rare Article (2/1 to 11/8) to the delight of the large crowd. Walsh said afterwards: "I never thought when I began riding that I would achieve 1,000 winners, it is a great milestone." He spent the remainder of the afternoon signing autographs for racegoers.
