Saint-Cloud option for Getaway

Getaway could remain in France for his next race, with the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud a potential alternative to Epsom´s Coronation Cup.

Andre Fabre´s five-year-old left a big impression when slamming his rivals in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket at the weekend.

Although the Coronation Cup is still a possible next port of call, connections stress he could remain closer to home before they consider a crack at the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Paul Harley, racing manager to owner Baron Von Ullmann, said: "Those races are part of the plan now and we will, of course, also consider the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud as an alternative to the Coronation.

"He´s got over the race, travelled back well and has eaten up and Mr Fabre is very happy with him."

Getaway had been primarily campaigned as a stayer before finishing fourth in last year´s Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe, but Harley has not been surprised to see him cut it over 12 furlongs.

"Mr Fabre always maintained that he would try him over a mile and a half in Group One company one day," he told At The Races.

"He always said he was a very high-class horse, but he hasn´t been very easy to train.

"He has a little bit of temperament so Mr Fabre thought he´d run him over the longer trips earlier in his career to get him to enjoy the game before he stepped into the serious business."

Bet365, Coral and William Hill all offer 7-2 about Getaway winning the King George on July 26th.
