Sakhee reappearance delayed

Sakhee`s Dubai World Cup prep race has been put back by 72 hours after the death of a member of the ruling Maktoum family.

Tonight`s racing at Nad Al Sheba has been called off as a mark of respect for Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum Al Maktoum who died in an accident.

The conditions race in which Sakhee is to compete and the Moonshell Mile have been transferred to Sunday`s card, which will now feature nine races.

The Sheikh was a racehorse owner in Dubai and his Aslaaf was one of the five horses due to oppose Sakhee in the 10-furlong contest on dirt.

He also owned the Eoin Harty-trained Wahajj who was due to make his debut in a five-furlong maiden on today`s card.

Sakhee will be having his first run since he was narrowly beaten in the Breeders` Cup Classic last October as a warm-up for the Dubai World Cup.

The five-year-old was officially rated the best horse of last year in the international classifications after a stunning campaign in Europe.

Godolphin`s horse took the Juddmonte International at York before running out a six-length winner of the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe.
