Sammy a Late Withdrawl From the Guineas The Stewards interviewed Mr. B.W. Duke, trainer of Sammy The Snake, regarding the late withdrawal of his charge from this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that the horse has had veterinary treatment over the past couple of months for intermittent lameness having received an injury last season. He felt that he had to give the horse every opportunity of running in today?s race but regrettably had to withdraw him due to unsoundness. Having considered all the circumstances, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered and took no further action.
