SANDOWN REVEAL CHAMPIONSHIP RACES

Officials at Sandown Park have revealed details of the four Grade One races which have added to the Whitbread Gold Cup meeting following the cancellation on Sunday of the Cheltenham Festival.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase and Stayers` Hurdle have not been transferred in name, but new races run over similar distances will be staged over the two days of April 27th and 28th.

This would give Sandown two mixed cards including top Flat races as well as the stg#125,000 Whitbread Gold Cup itself.

On the Friday the stg#100,000 Tote Gold Trophy Chase over an extended three miles will be staged along with the three-mile Bonusprint Select Hurdle worth stg#65,000.

There will also be a two-and-a-half-mile novice chase, originally scheduled for the Saturday, on Friday`s eight-race card as well as two top Flat events, the Group Two Masai Mile and Group Three Heathorns Gordon Richards Stakes.

Saturday`s card contains the other two new races, the Coral Eurobet Championship Hurdle over two miles and the ladbrokescasino.com Championship Chase also over two miles. Both races are worth stg#85,000.

The card will also include the Group Three Sandown Park Classic Trial.

Channel 4 Racing will televise five live races each day.
