Sandown Successes Crown Spectacular Week For Goffs A superb week for Goffs graduates got even better last night with three top quality Stakes victories at Sandown. The Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes went to the Mark Tompkins trained Smokey Oakey, a ?4,500 purchase at Goffs November Sale. The four year old, who is co-owned by actress Dame Judi Dench, also won the Lincoln at Doncaster two months ago. Richard Hannon was triumphant with Million Sale horses in both of the Listed races on the card. One Cool Cat colt Icesolator was a very impressive winner of the two year old National Stakes. According to Hannon, who described him as one of his best two year olds, he will most likely be aimed at the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. Stable mate Redolent followed suit later with a win in the Listed Heron Stakes. The three year old son of Redback made all to win comfortably and connections are looking to a possible Group 3 appearance in France next. Smokey Oakey was sold by breeders Hyde Park Stud to Awbeg Stud for ?4,500 at the 2004 Goffs November Foal Sale. Icesolator was sold by Pier House Stud to Peter Doyle Bloodstock for ?65,000 at the 2007 Goffs Million Sale. Redolent was bred by Roger O?Callaghan and Derek Veitch, and was sold by Tally Ho Stud to Amanda Skiffington for ?120,000 at the 2006 Goffs Million Sale. These victories cap a spectacularly successful week for Goffs which saw Classic glory for Million filly Halfway To Heaven in the 1000 Guineas; Group 2 Temple Stakes win for Sportsman?s Sale graduate Fleeting Spirit; US star & Million graduate Daytona won yet another Grade 1 at Hollywood Park; and Sportsman?s Sale purchase Knavesmire landed the Listed Hilary Needler Trophy.
