Sentry Heads Plate Possibles

Nicky Henderson´s Sentry Duty heads the confirmations for the John Smith´s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on Saturday.

Formerly trained in France, the five-year-old has had two starts for the master of Seven Barrows, finishing fourth over hurdles before winning at Newmarket in great style by two and a half lengths.

A total of 51 horses have stood their ground at the five-day stage with Charlie Egerton´s Vinando and Gerard Butler´s All The Good next in the list.

The weights are due to rise as Jamie Osborne has taken out Ascot Gold Cup runner-up Geordieland, although two Royal winners may go for another big prize.

Osborne´s Enjoy The Moment won the Queen Alexandra Stakes and could run again at Gosforth Park, while Paul Webber´s Full House, winner of the Ascot Stakes, is another possible.

The Irish challenge is headed by high-class hurdler Al Eile while Tony Martin´s Leg Spinner, fourth behind Full House last week, could renew rivalry with Webber´s charge.

John Gosden´s Right To Play, a winner of two of his last three starts will have his supporters, as will Peter Chapple-Hyam´s River Alhaarth and Chester Cup winner Greenwich Meantime.

Last season´s Ebor winner Mudawin, Michael Bell´s Juniper Girl, and Amanda Perrett´s Nosferatu are others with leading claims.
