Six in the Phoenix Art Connoisseur will face five rivals when he attempts to maintain his unbeaten record in Sunday's Independent Waterford Wedgwood Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. Michael Bell's charge, a brilliant winner of the Coventry Stakes, will face two Aidan O'Brien runners, Mastercraftsman and Sea Of Marmara. The former is the leading hope of Ballydoyle having won both of his starts to date, both over course and distance, including the Railway Stakes last time. Bushranger represents David Wachman and he made a big impression when winning the Dubai Duty Free Anglesey Stakes, again over course and distance, last time. The field is completed by Alhaban, who represents Kevin Prendergast and Hamdan Al Maktoum in preference to the unbeaten filly Shimah. The son of Verglas was beaten a short-head by Mastercraftsman in the Railway Stakes.
