Sizing Europe On Track For Punchestown

Henry de Bromhead is pleased with Sizing Europe ahead of his charge´s bid to get his season back on track following a below-par performance at Cheltenham.

"Sizing Europe has been entered in the ACCBank Champion Hurdle and we?re certainly aiming at that race," said de Bromhead. "So far he seems good but I?m just going to take every day as it comes with him."

Sizing Europe put in a superb performance at Leopardstown to win the AIG Europe Champion Hurdle by eight lengths on January 27 prior to his disappointing run at Cheltenham, where he was sent off 2/1 favourite, and de Bromhead believes it was a back problem that caused his defeat.

"We think it was a muscle problem in his back and he has been getting treatment for it. He was sore immediately after the race at Cheltenham but he has been very good since then," added the trainer.

"We gave him a couple of weeks? rest and he is cantering away at the moment. We are going to step up his work this week and see how he is. We would love to go to Punchestown with him and love to run him in the race but he?ll only run if we are happy with him."
