Sligo Fit For Racing

Sligo have passed an early-morning precautionary inspection and will go ahead as scheduled.

This afternoon's meeting had been in doubt due to an unfavourable forecast, but the predicted deluge of rainfall failed to materialise.

'They had a good look to make sure, but the course is fit for racing,' said Cliff Noone, Irish Turf Club press officer.

'The course did not have to withstand a sufficient amount of rain, which would have put the meeting in jeopardy.'
