Snippets May Be Supplemented For Irish Oaks

Snippets, third in the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh last weekend, may be supplemented for the Darley Irish Oaks at the same venue on Sunday week for a fee of E40,000.

Trainer Jim Bolger, who won last years running of the Irish classic with Margarula, said: 'I am giving the Irish Oaks plenty of thought and I will talk to owner John Weld about it.

'She would have won the Cheshire Oaks if we had been more daring with her (she was a fast-finishing third) but we know a lot more about her now and we rode her that day to get the trip.

'She gets a mile and a half well but she also has the speed for ten furlongs. She was flying last Saturday when she was interfered with - she was almost brought to a complete standstill.'

'Napper Tandy', he added, 'did not get the trip in the Derby. We're looking at the ten furlong Meld Stakes at Leopardstown on July 26 and there are also a number of Listed possibilities over a mile.'
