Soviet Set For Newmarket Test

Soviet Song will attempt to chalk up the sixth Group One win of her career when she lines up for the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on September 30.

The six-year-old mare, trained by James Fanshawe, bypasses the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on September 23 to wait for the mile feature for fillies and mares.

'She's fine and the plan is to run her next in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket at the end of the month,' confirmed Matthew Budden, racing manager to owners and breeders, the Elite Racing Club.

'James will have a few weeks to prepare her for that. We'll see how she gets on there.'

Soviet Song has yet to win at the highest level this year, with her sole success coming in the Group Two Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She was, however, runner-up to Court Masterpiece in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and was fifth to Caradak in the totesport Celebration Mile back at the Sussex track on her latest start.
