Stars set to line up for Boylesports Irish Guineas Festival

Newmarket 1000 Guineas and 2000 Guineas winners Finsceal Bio and Cockney Rebel, together with last years Budweiser Irish Derby hero Dylan Thomas are set to take top billing at this years Boylesports Irish Guineas Festival taking place at the Curragh on 26th and 27th May

Cockney Rebel will attempt to become the first horse since Rock of Gibraltar in 2002 to claim both the Irish and English 2000 Guineas. Trainer Geoff Huffer couldn't be happier with his charge ahead of the first Irish Classic race of 2007, 'He worked brilliantly on Saturday and is in sparkling form and ready to rock and roll', said the upbeat Newmarket based handler 'I really think this horse could be a legend.'

Newmarket 2000 Guineas runner-up Vital Equine, Dutch Art who finished third and the Aidan O'Brien trained Duke of Marmalade who finished fourth could all re-oppose the son of Val Royal. French 2000 Guineas runner up Creachadoir, Haataf and the Dermot Weld trained Fleeting Shadow are other likely starters in the 400,000 euro contest.

Sunday's mouth watering programme features the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas with Newmarket Guineas heroine Finsceal Bio, runner-up Arch Swing and Treat who finished fourth, all due to clash again, while other entries include Alexander Tango, Evening Time, Folk Opera, Simply Perfect and Goffs Million winner Miss Beatrix.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien has confirmed that last years Budweiser Irish Derby winner Dylan Thomas is on course for the Tattersalls Gold Cup with opposition likely to include last years Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas heroine Nightime, Breeders Cup Turf winner Red Rocks and the Mick Channon trained Youmzain who finished third in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic last March.

The impressive list of entries for the Group 3 Weatherbys Ireland Greenland Stakes includes last years winner Moss Vale, Dandy Man, Benbaun, Boca Dancer, Osterhase and Red Clubs, while recent Oratorio Athasi Stakes winner Eastern Appeal and the Sir Michael Stoute trained Heaven Sent are among the 17 entries for the Group 3 Ridgewood Pearl Stakes. The quality two-day programme also includes the Listed Isabel Morris Stakes and Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes.

An exciting variety of entertainment will guarantee a festive atmosphere over both days with live music, fashion and family fun. Horse Racing Ireland's fashion ambassador Kathryn Thomas and Gillian Quinn, wife of Sunderland FC Chairman Niall Quinn, will be two of the judges in Sunday's Fashions on the Turf Ladies Day competition with the winner receiving use of a brand new Mitsubishi Colt for one year, courtesy of Mitsubishi and the Ray O'Brien Motor Group. Families with young children will be well catered for on Sunday with free entertainment taking place in the West End of the racecourse. A variety of stars from the sporting world are due to be guests of Boylesports during the Festival weekend.
