Street Team Consider Fleet Of Options

Fleet Street's connections are pondering a plethora of interesting options, with nothing ruled in or out at the moment.

Nicky Henderson's nine-year-old has made more belated comebacks than some prime-time heavyweight boxers with his career cut short by numerous ailments, including equine MRSA.

His most recent return came after about nine months off by winning for the first time over fences at Leicester last week and he holds an entry in this Saturday's Montpelier Group Lightning Novices? Chase at Ascot.

However, Henry Ponsonby, who runs the syndicate of Fleet Street's owners, said: 'He might run on Saturday, but not necessarily. It is difficult to make any plans at the moment because of the weather.

'He is also in the totesport Trophy next month and he was not entered for the fun of it, as he is well-in over hurdles.

'There is also the Imperial Cup. He was a very useful hurdler a few years ago - remember he was third behind Brave Inca and War Of Attrition at Cheltenham a few years ago ? so options are very much open.'

Fleet Street is 20-1 with sponsors totesport for the Newbury handicap, while there is also the possibility of Cheltenham to contend with.

Ponsonby continued: 'A few years ago he would have been an Arkle horse, but he's had so many injuries.

'He's in the Ryanair Chase but we could run in a handicap. He would need another run over fences to qualify for the Jewson, so that is something else to think about.'
