Top sprinters could clash at Sandown

Kyllachy, Smokin Beau and Bahamian Pirate, who fought out a tight finish to the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on Sagitta 2000 Guineas day, could renew rivalry at Sandown next Monday.

Henry Candy`s Kyllachy got up on the line to pip the John Cullinan-trained Smokin Beau for the Group Three contest by a short head with Bahamian Pirate from the David Nicholls stable, a similar distance away in third.

The three speedsters are among 17 standing their ground at today`s confirmation stage for the Sandown Group Two contest also over five furlongs.

But competition for the Stg£60,000 dash will be tough as the opposition could include Invincible Spirit, fit from his narrow win in the Duke Of York Stakes over six furlongs at York earlier this month.

His trainer John Dunlop has also left in Vision Of Night, beaten half-a-length by Cassandra Go in this race 12 months ago.

Sir Michael Stoute`s Misraah and Monkston Point, winner of a Listed race at Windsor last Sunday, are other interesting possibles among the older horses.

The three three-year-olds left in are Gerard Butler`s smart filly Swiss Lake, Rod Millman`s recent easy Haydock scorer Whitbarrow and Agnetha, trained by Dermot Weld.

Temple Stakes: Vision of Night, Bahamian Pirate, Continent, Indian Prince, Invincible Spirit, Kier Park, Kyllachy, Misraah, Monkston Point, Rushcutter Bay, Smokin Beau, The Trader, Tiger Royal, Rozel, Whitbarrow, Agnetha, Swiss Lake (17).
