Track Widening Plans

The problem of losing fixtures in times of heavy rainfall as evidenced by the abandonment of this evening’s Ballinrobe meeting is to be addressed by a HRI plan to widen three of the country’s flagship jumps courses.

As reported in today’s Racing Post, Fairyhouse, Punchestown and Naas will all stage more winter racing with an expansion of their inside tracks to create additional racing ground.

Horse Racing Ireland has allocated €13 million to cover the costs involved, a budget which must also cover the construction of the all-weather track at Dundalk and upgrading of some vital integrity equipment.
