Tramore Round-Up

Those with long memories will remember Harcas landing a gamble in the Nicky Hartery colours at Tramore back at the August Festival in 2005 and the Waterford man struck again with Sinful Pleasure also trained by Michael Halford in the Graun Hill Handicap.

This daughter of Sinndar was available at 7/2 (at least) in the morning and after being backed from 3/1 into 9/4 on track, Rory Cleary got a dream run to lead in the dip. The market-leader then stayed on well to beat Jumbo Rio by two and a half lengths.

Michael Halford said, "she is a good genuine filly and a mile and a half suits her well. She handled the track and Rory gave her a good ride."

The crowd was small but those punters in attendance were probably in the main to the good as the previous result wouldn´t have been of much use to bookmakers either. Kharsya, in first time blinkers found 1/5 from 2/7 and she did the job in workmanlike fashion in the fillies maiden, beating Value Of Time by three lengths. Fran Berry wore the Princess Zahra Aga Khan silks on this one for John Oxx.

Another Aga Khan-bred winner was Alamgiyr in the August Festival 14th to 17th Handicap. This half-brother to Alamshar caused the layers further misery when justifying support from 5/2 early in the day and from 2/1 into 5/4 favouritism in the ring. Joanna Morgan (the third trainer of this gelding following John Oxx and Robbie Burns) successfully brought her charge out quickly after his second placing at Ballinrobe on Monday evening. Declan McDonogh was completing a double on Alamgiyr after earlier triumphing on Sufad.

Meanwhile short head victor of the last, Hucklebuck, survived an enquiry before being confirmed superior over Misty Island.
