TWIST IN BRITISH MEDIA RIGHTS

GG-Media Ltd today threw their hat into the media rights ring when launching a stg£67 million media rights deal aimed at Britain`s smaller independent racecourses.

The company, owned by investment house Fleming Family & Partners and Towcester chairman Lord Hesketh`s family and associates, is offering a five-year scheme for the rights belonging to 26 tracks.

All but two of Britain`s 59 racecourses have signed an exclusivity agreement with the Go Racing consortium.

However, some smaller courses believe that deal has been targeted at the major tracks and does not reflect the value of their media rights.

British Horseracing Board managing director Chris Reynolds described the proposal as a 'complication' but GG-Media insist any deal would not stop the Go Racing offer proceeding.
