TWO MEETINGS RAINED OFF

Heavy rain has led to the abandonment of tomorrow`s televised card at Kempton and Monday's meeting at Huntingdon.

Waterlogging on both courses left course officials with no alternative but to call-off the meetings.

Clerk of the course at Kempton, Brian Clifford, said: 'It was an easy decision. It is waterlogged and there was no hope.

'We have had 12mm of rain already this morning and it is still raining. We have now had two inches in a week _ and that is a lot of rain.'

The course had already acted to counter the rain by scrapping races on the sprint track, which was rated irredeemably waterlogged early in the week.

Meanwhile, at Huntingdon officials had planned to hold an inspection on Sunday for the fixture but further rain led them to abandon early.

Clerk of the course Hugo Bevan said: 'We`ve abandoned Huntingdon on Monday.

'We were going to inspect over the weekend but we had 5mm of rain overnight, it is still raining and the forecast isfor more rain.

'I would think that by late afternoon the river will have burst its banks again and we have no chance whatsoever of racing on Monday.'

Huntingdon are also due to race next Friday and Bevan added: 'We are discussing the possibility of an all-chase card next Friday with the BHB which would be a lot of help to us.'

Huntingdon had already lost a card to waterlogging on Wednesday.
