Wahchi still on Derby trail

Wahchi will try to earn a place in the Vodafone Derby line-up by tackling one of the trials for the Epsom Classic at York next month.

Trainer Ed Dunlop, however, is undecided at this stage whether he will go for the Convergent Communications Dante Stakes on May 15th or the Michael Seely Memorial Glasgow Stakes the following day.

Dunlop explained: 'Wahchi has come out of his race well after getting a little bit tired, though we did expect him to need it.

'The plan is to run him in another recognised Derby trial at York.'

Dunlop also had news of Sweet Band, who was beaten just over three lengths behind leading Sagitta 2000 Guineas fancy King Of Happiness and Della Francesca in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket.

He added: 'Sweet Band ran very well and possibly should have finished second.

I think he`s got some improvement in him and his pedigree suggests he`ll get further but at this stage I`m undecided whether he`ll run in the Guineas.'

Sweet Band is a 33-1 chance with William Hill for the Newmarket contest.
