Ornua gained a timely success at Wexford today as the Aintree Grade 1 winner returned jockey Dylan Robinson to the winner's enclosure in the Garryrichard Stud Handicap Chase, scoring for trainer Henry De Bromhead.

Ornua's previous win was in Aintree's top-level 2019 Maghull Novice Chase, taking place two hours before his then jockey Davy Russell steered Tiger Roll to Grand National glory, and today 10 year old Ornua ended a 15-race losing spell under Robinson.

Injury-hit Robinson, whose own previous winner was last November, later stated “it’s good to get a winner again. It’s hard to get back since the injury and hopefully that will get the ball rolling. I broke my back in November and I’m just getting back going now.

“This horse has been some servant to me. He’s run well in Grade 1 company and this race is a great opportunity for him.

“His owner John Phelan deserves every bit of what he gets out of racing.”
