Flamin Aimee was delivered with perfect timing by Mikey Fogarty to win the Courtown Mares Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.

Odds-on favourite Hand In My Pocket tried to get this done from the front end under Patrick McGrath. Fogarty though, took aim down the inner on 4/1 third market choice Flamin Aimee in the straight.

The local pilot (first winner since the return) had a willing partner in the Oscar mare and she kept finding for him on the run-in to beat the hot-pot by a neck.

Flamin Aimee was building on a career best 50/1 second placing twelve days back and the step-up to three miles did Colin Bowe’s six-year-old no harm at all.

"Her point-to-point form overall had been quite disappointing. She had a good run the first day and then disappointed badly two days,” said Bowe’s assistant trainer Brendan Walsh.

“We brought her back in and changed it up a little bit. She lives in the field now since we brought her back in.

“Her Ballinrobe run was her first from the field and she had a good run that day and backed it up today.

“We're delighted with her and delighted for her owners (the Morrisseys).

“They have shown good patience with her and deserve a lot of credit for putting her back in and having another go at it.

“Maybe point-to-pointing wasn't her thing.

“We'll see what the handicapper thinks. Her jumping is very good and she probably needs a trip.

“I'd say she'll jump a fence sooner rather than later but we'll see what her mark over hurdles is first."
