David Marnane was the latest trainer to praise the recent growth of the Claimer as his Tennesse Waltz scored a third win for his new handler when landing the Ticket Sales Online Apprentice Handicap at Cork today.

Ridden by Killian Leonard, the son of Footstepsinthesand was on the right side of a photo-finish verdict, having edged his nose past runner-up Pure Action in the last stride.

Tenesse Waltz was claimed at Tipperary last August and afterwards Marnane stated “he’s a grand horse and we bought him for E8,000 this time last year and that’s his third win since then. It’s a good advertisement for Claimers and we bought two horses, him and Split The Atom last year and I’d have them any day of the week.

“Seven is not ideal but he got a good no-nonsense ride. I think he can still be competitive on the turf and the handicapper can’t go too mad with him and hopefully he can be competitive for a step up in trip.”
